Practice Accountant – Doncaster (South Yorkshire)

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
Join a well-established Chartered Certified Accountants firm in Doncaster with a strong reputation for technical expertise, client service, and business advisory.
Work with a varied SME client base across sectors, providing accounting, tax, and advisory support.
Play a key role in preparing management accounts, statutory accounts, and financial reports — contributing directly to client outcomes and firm growth.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare statutory accounts and management accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Produce and review tax computations (corporate, personal) and liaise with clients on tax-related matters
Maintain and reconcile ledgers, control accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations
Support audit engagements: prepare working papers, support fieldwork, and liaise with external auditors (if applicable)
Provide business advisory support, helping clients with growth, cashflow planning, and financial strategy
Drive the adoption and use of cloud accounting systems and efficient digital workflows
Mentor and develop junior accountants and support staff, contributing to a collaborative team environment
Keep up to date with accounting standards (e.g., UK GAAP / FRS 102), tax legislation, and regulatory changes relevant to practice work
Ideal Candidate Profile
Part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / Chartered Certified) or qualified by experience
Proven experience in an accountancy practice, working on accounts and tax assignments
Good technical knowledge of accounting standards and business tax principles
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail
Experience with cloud accounting software or a willingness to adopt digital tools
Excellent communication and client relationship skills
Proactive, adaptable, and able to contribute to a growing, client-focused advisory business
