Practice Accountant – Doncaster (South Yorkshire)

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

  • Join a well-established Chartered Certified Accountants firm in Doncaster with a strong reputation for technical expertise, client service, and business advisory.

  • Work with a varied SME client base across sectors, providing accounting, tax, and advisory support.

  • Play a key role in preparing management accounts, statutory accounts, and financial reports — contributing directly to client outcomes and firm growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory accounts and management accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies

  • Produce and review tax computations (corporate, personal) and liaise with clients on tax-related matters

  • Maintain and reconcile ledgers, control accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Support audit engagements: prepare working papers, support fieldwork, and liaise with external auditors (if applicable)

  • Provide business advisory support, helping clients with growth, cashflow planning, and financial strategy

  • Drive the adoption and use of cloud accounting systems and efficient digital workflows

  • Mentor and develop junior accountants and support staff, contributing to a collaborative team environment

  • Keep up to date with accounting standards (e.g., UK GAAP / FRS 102), tax legislation, and regulatory changes relevant to practice work

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / Chartered Certified) or qualified by experience

  • Proven experience in an accountancy practice, working on accounts and tax assignments

  • Good technical knowledge of accounting standards and business tax principles

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail

  • Experience with cloud accounting software or a willingness to adopt digital tools

  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills

  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to contribute to a growing, client-focused advisory business
