An independently owned accountancy practice in Northampton is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join their friendly and professional team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with experience in accounts preparation, tax compliance, and client portfolio management within a practice environment.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team that takes pride in delivering high-quality service, building strong relationships, and helping clients achieve their business goals.
The Role of Senior Accountant:
As a qualified Accountant in the firm, you will:
Prepare and review year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
Experience with rural clients is desirable.
Manage your own portfolio of clients, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Prepare corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and assist with personal tax submissions.
Support and review the work of junior team members, providing feedback and guidance.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and high-quality service.
Assist partners and senior managers with ad-hoc advisory work and business planning projects.
Requirements:
ACA or ACCA qualification (fully qualified preferred)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice
Ideally experienced with rural accounts clients
Good technical knowledge of FRS 102 and relevant tax legislation
Strong IT skills, including experience with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills
A positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional client service
