Qualified Senior Accountant Job

Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire 
Salary: Circa £40,000 - £45,000 
Contract: Full Time, On Site  

An independently owned accountancy practice in Northampton is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join their friendly and professional team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with experience in accounts preparation, tax compliance, and client portfolio management within a practice environment. 

You’ll be part of a collaborative team that takes pride in delivering high-quality service, building strong relationships, and helping clients achieve their business goals. 

The Role of Senior Accountant:

As a qualified Accountant in the firm, you will: 

  • Prepare and review year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.  

  • Experience with rural clients is desirable.  

  • Manage your own portfolio of clients, ensuring all deadlines are met. 

  • Prepare corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and assist with personal tax submissions. 

  • Support and review the work of junior team members, providing feedback and guidance. 

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and high-quality service. 

  • Assist partners and senior managers with ad-hoc advisory work and business planning projects. 

Requirements: 

  • ACA or ACCA qualification (fully qualified preferred) 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice 

  • Ideally experienced with rural accounts clients  

  • Good technical knowledge of FRS 102 and relevant tax legislation 

  • Strong IT skills, including experience with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage 

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills 

  • A positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional client service
