Semi Senior Accountant

Salary: £20,000 - £32,000 
Location: Bromsgrove, Worcestershire  
Contract: Full-time, hybrid working   

An established and growing accountancy practice is looking for a motivated Semi Senior Accountant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone progressing through their ACCA or ACA qualification who wants broader exposure across accounts, bookkeeping, VAT, and client work within a professional and supportive environment.

The Role of Semi Senior Accountant 

You will work closely with Client Managers and Senior Managers, supporting a varied client portfolio across sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. The role offers the opportunity to develop strong technical experience and, if desired, gain exposure to audit. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Preparing draft year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies 

  • Completing general bookkeeping tasks, including processing invoices, bank postings, and reconciliations 

  • Preparing VAT returns up to review stage 

  • Attending client meetings alongside senior staff 

  • Assisting the audit team (optional, based on interest) 

  • Responding to ad-hoc client queries 

  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team 

Skills & Experience 

The ideal candidate will be:  

  • Actively studying ACA/ACCA 

  • Experienced in an accountancy practice (at least 2 years)  

  • Communicating professionally with clients 

  • Managing multiple deadlines and priorities 

  • Maintaining excellent attention to detail 

  • Full UK driving licence preferred due to occasional client visits 

This role is well suited to someone looking to join a larger, well-structured practice and gain wider experience across a diverse client base. 

Salary & Benefits 

  • Salary £20,000 to £32,000, depending on experience and exam progress 

  • Pay increases linked to exam passes throughout the year 

  • 21 days annual leave + bank holidays 

  • Additional 2 fixed annual leave days 

  • Hybrid working up to 2 days WFH per week after probation
