Role Overview
-
Provide essential accounting support across a varied portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

Deliver a combination of statutory accounts, management accounts, bookkeeping, VAT, tax and advisory services — reflective of a full-service SME-focused accountancy practice.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare statutory and management accounts for SMEs (limited companies, partnerships, sole traders)

Produce VAT returns and assist with compliance and submission processes

Support corporation tax, personal tax computations and client tax work

Maintain accurate client bookkeeping, control account reconciliations and ledger integrity

Assist with payroll and cloud-accounting workflows; support clients with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks)

Liaise regularly with clients, maintaining strong relationships and providing clear, practical advice

Support clients with tax, cash flow and business processes improvement opportunities

Work collaboratively within the practice team; support other accountants and contribute to continuous process improvements
Ideal Candidate Profile
-
Part-qualified (ACCA / ACA / equivalent) or experienced accountant with a practice background
-
Proven experience preparing accounts, bookkeeping, VAT and tax work for small/medium-sized clients

Comfortable with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks or similar) and digital workflows
-
Good technical understanding of accounting and tax standards, compliance, and client advisory needs

Excellent communication, client service orientation and relationship-building skills

Organised, detail-focused and capable of managing multiple deadlines and client portfolios
