About the Role
We’re representing a growing and well-established accountancy practice in Selby, providing full accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse SME client base. Due to internal progression, the firm is seeking a technically strong Senior Accountant to manage their own portfolio of clients. This role is ideal for newly qualified accountants, finalists, nearly-qualified, or QBE professionals looking to take ownership of client work and develop their career further.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a varied portfolio of clients, taking full ownership of accounts and tax assignments

Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies

Prepare management accounts and financial reporting packs

Produce personal and corporate tax returns

Support and review bookkeeping and VAT work

Build strong client relationships and provide practical business advice

Mentor and support junior team members

Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and deadlines

Utilise cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
Ideal Candidate Profile

Newly qualified, finalist, nearly-qualified, or QBE accountant
-
Typically 3–4 years’ experience in an accountancy practice (AAT or equivalent)

Strong technical knowledge in accounting and taxation

Excellent communication skills with a client-focused approach

Proficient in cloud-based accounting systems

Proactive, organised, and able to work autonomously
