Senior Accountant – Huddersfield

Location: Huddersfield (Shepley), West Yorkshire
Employment: Full-time (Office-based/hybrid considered)
Reports to: Senior Partner
Salary: £37,000 - £45,000

Role Overview:

The Senior Accountant will manage a varied portfolio, delivering statutory accounts, tax compliance, advisory services, and cloud-based finance support. The role requires strong technical capability, confident client interaction, and the ability to support internal improvement and team development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare statutory year-end accounts under UK GAAP
  • Produce and review corporate and personal tax computations and manage HMRC submissions
  • Deliver accurate and insightful management accounts
  • Manage VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax compliance
  • Provide proactive advisory input on tax planning, business growth, and operational efficiency
  • Support and onboard clients using cloud accounting platforms
  • Mentor and develop junior team members
  • Contribute to process improvements and quality enhancements across the practice

Person Specification:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in UK practice
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and tax legislation
  • Confident with cloud accounting systems
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • High organisational discipline with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Professional, proactive, and quality-focused
