An independent accountancy practice in Penryn is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Portfolio Director to join their team. This role is ideal for candidates who want greater independence, work-life balance, and responsibility for their own client portfolio. Flexible working options, including part-time or remote working, are available for the right candidate.
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: Penryn, Cornwall
Hours: Full-Time (Part-Time considered for the right candidate)

Key Responsibilities
Statutory Accounts – review and sign off accounts prepared by junior staff under FRS102 and FRS105
Company Tax Returns – review, sign off, and identify tax planning opportunities
Self-Assessment Tax Returns – manage compliance and sign off for your portfolio
Bookkeeping – support junior team members and assist during client onboarding
Management Accounts – prepare and submit for a subset of your portfolio
VAT Returns – review, sign off, support registration, and identify risks and opportunities
Team Management – provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
Business Development – support new business calls and grow your client portfolio
Candidate Requirements
Professional Qualification: ACA or ACCA qualified
Experience: 2–3 years post-qualified practice experience, with prior experience managing a portfolio independently
Technology: Familiarity with Xero, TaxCalc, and Excel desirable (training provided if needed)
Personality: Independent, honest, personable, and proactive; able to lead a small team in the future
