Senior Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice – South London

Location: South London (minutes from the Common)
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours) or Part-time (30 hours)
Weekends: 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am–1pm), no out-of-hours
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 DOE


About the Role

We are representing an established, family-run independent small animal practice in South London that is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated and friendly team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident vet with a minimum of five years’ UK experience, looking to work in a supportive environment where clinical freedom and high-quality patient care are at the forefront.

You’ll work four days per week (three 9am–7pm shifts and one 9am–6pm shift) with a shared Saturday rota (1 in 4 Saturdays, 9am–1pm) and no out-of-hours.


About the Practice

This well-equipped independent practice provides a wide range of services and advanced diagnostics, including:

  • Digital and dental x-rays

  • Ultrasound with echocardiography

  • Multiparameter monitors and handheld capnographs

  • Doppler blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeters, tonometer, bear-huggers, and fluid pumps

You’ll join a team of four experienced vets supported by a highly skilled nursing team, working together in a collaborative and caring environment that prioritises patient wellbeing and work-life balance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting consultations and providing exceptional client communication

  • Performing routine and complex surgeries

  • Supporting diagnostic workups using advanced equipment

  • Collaborating with the wider veterinary team to ensure high clinical standards

  • Participating in the weekend rota (no out-of-hours)


About You

  • Minimum of 5 years’ UK experience as a Veterinary Surgeon

  • Confident with surgery, diagnostics, and client communication

  • RCVS-registered (or eligible)

  • Positive, team-focused approach
