About the Role
A 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Hospital in the New Orleans area is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Criticalist to join an established Critical Care team. This role is ideal for a veterinarian who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, has excellent communication skills, and enjoys mentoring rotating interns, specialty interns, and residents.
The Criticalist will provide cutting-edge care for complex patients, collaborate with specialists across multiple disciplines, and support high-quality emergency and specialty services.
About the Practice
The hospital is AAHA-accredited and offers a full spectrum of specialty and emergency services including Anesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Medical Oncology, Radiology, Rehabilitation, and Surgery.
The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as high-flow oxygen, mechanical ventilation, MR imaging, hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, apheresis, electrochemotherapy, immunotherapy, and more. The hospital recently performed its 300th extracorporeal therapy procedure, reflecting its advanced capabilities.

Responsibilities
Provide advanced critical care to complex and emergency patients
Collaborate with multi-specialty teams including internists, surgeons, and emergency clinicians
Mentor interns, residents, and hospital staff, supporting professional development
Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and treatment plans
Ensure continuity of care through clear communication with referral partners
Contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered, and inclusive hospital culture
Candidate Profile
Board-certified or residency-trained in Veterinary Critical Care
Licensed to practice in Louisiana, or able to obtain license by start date
Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Passion for mentoring and professional development
Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets and clients
