Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice – Edinburgh

Employment Type: Part-time (Monday–Wednesday, 8:00am–6:00pm)
Weekends: 2 in 4 Saturdays
Sole Charge: Required on Mondays and Tuesdays
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 (pro rata, dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are working with a well-established independent veterinary practice in Edinburgh seeking a confident and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team.

This position offers a three-day working week (Monday to Wednesday) with hours from 8am to 6pm, and participation in a 2-in-4 Saturday rota. Mondays and Tuesdays involve sole charge, providing an ideal opportunity for an experienced clinician seeking autonomy and a strong work–life balance.

The successful candidate will be joining a supportive team of veterinary professionals who value clinical freedom, collaboration, and excellent patient care.

About the Practice

This is an independent small animal practice with a loyal client base and a friendly, community-driven atmosphere. The clinic is equipped with:

  • Digital x-ray and dental x-ray facilities

  • Ultrasound and in-house laboratory

  • Modern surgical suite and separate dental area

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality veterinary care across consultations, surgery, and diagnostics

  • Managing sole charge responsibilities confidently when required

  • Maintaining the highest clinical and welfare standards

About You

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon (essential)

  • Confident in both consultation and routine surgery

  • Comfortable with sole charge situations

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A proactive, caring approach to patient care
