£45,000–£60,000 DOE | Full and Part Time | 4-Day Week | No Out-of-Hours | Part-Time Considered

An independent small animal veterinary practice in Watford, Hertfordshire is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a small, friendly, and supportive team delivering high-quality first opinion care. Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary £45,000–£55,000, dependent on experience

  • 4-day working week (average 38 hours)

Role Overview

The Veterinary Surgeon will provide first opinion small animal care to a loyal local client base, with a strong focus on continuity, quality medicine, and personalised client relationships within a supportive independent environment.

Clinical Facilities & Equipment

The practice is well equipped with a broad range of modern diagnostic tools, including:

  • Ultrasound

  • Digital X-ray

  • Endoscopy

  • In-house laboratory testing

  • Microscopy

  • Deliver high-quality first opinion veterinary care

  • Perform routine consultations and surgical procedures

  • Build strong client relationships through continuity of care

  • Maintain excellent clinical and welfare standards

Working Hours & Schedule

  • Full-time position

  • 4-day week (38 hours average)

  • 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (9am–12pm)

  • No OOH responsibilities

Candidate Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

  • 3–4+ years’ experience in small animal practice

  • Strong communication and client care skills

  • Team-oriented, proactive approach

  • Full clean driving licence

  • Sense of humour and ability to work well within a small team
