Key Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exams, diagnostics, and treatment plans for dogs and cats

  • Utilize a problem-based approach for patient care, including differential diagnoses and complete treatment plans

  • Conduct routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, mass removals, and abdominal exploratories

  • Perform dental procedures, including full dental exams, radiographs, extractions, and oral surgeries

  • Develop treatment plans for day hospitalization and coordinate overnight care as needed

  • Collaborate with referral hospitals for continuity of patient care

  • Mentor and share knowledge with support staff to enhance team performance

  • Uphold hospital SOPs and maintain accurate, detailed medical records

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school

  • Active veterinary licensure in Illinois or ability to obtain prior to start

  • Current DEA license and controlled substance license (if applicable)

  • Comfortable performing anesthesia, routine surgeries, and dental procedures

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and client-education skills

  • Compassionate, professional demeanor with excellent problem-solving ability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in mentorship and collaboration with team members

  • Previous experience in a full-service small animal practice

  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
