About the Role
A boutique small animal general practice is seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to lead clinical excellence in Palo Alto, CA, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. The Medical Director will maintain an active clinical schedule (approximately 4 days per week) while partnering with hospital and regional leadership to support quality improvement and growth initiatives.

Responsibilities
Lead and oversee medical operations and clinical standards
Establish, implement, and refine medical protocols and best practices
Mentor and develop Associate Veterinarians and clinical staff
Maintain an active clinical caseload delivering high-quality patient care
Collaborate with hospital and regional leadership on strategy and growth
Monitor clinical outcomes and lead continuous quality improvement
Support complex cases and elevate client communication standards
Promote a positive, collaborative hospital culture
Candidate Profile
DVM or equivalent, licensed and in good standing in California
DEA license required
3–5+ years of clinical experience preferred
Prior leadership, mentorship, or medical oversight experience strongly desired
Strong clinical foundation in small animal general practice
Excellent communication, coaching, and team-building skills
Strategic, collaborative mindset with adaptability across locations
Commitment to high medical standards, ethics, and patient care
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $180,000–$250,000, based on experience
