A well-established and progressive accountancy firm in Newark-on-Trent is looking to recruit an Accounts and Audit Trainee / Semi-Senior. This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the early stages of their accountancy career to gain hands-on experience across accounts, audit, and tax, while receiving full training and study support in a supportive environment.
The Role
You will work closely with experienced accountants and auditors, gaining exposure to a broad portfolio of clients across multiple sectors. This role offers genuine responsibility and real client work, helping you build strong technical skills and professional confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
Input and manage client financial data using accounting software
Prepare supporting working papers for financial statements
Assist with fixed asset registers, debtors and creditors summaries
Prepare accruals and prepayments
Perform VAT reconciliations and bank reconciliations
Support audit assignments including system testing, balance sheet checks, stock takes, and information gathering
Assist with drafting personal and corporate tax returns
Submit tax and annual returns online
The Ideal Candidate
Minimum 1 year’s experience within an Accountancy Practice
Confident using Microsoft Excel and Word
AAT studies in progress (or keen to continue professional training)
Motivated, organised, and eager to develop a long-term career in practice
What’s on Offer
