Location: Quinton, Birmingham 
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

A growing accountancy practice supporting small businesses across the UK is looking to recruit an experienced Client Manager to join its accounting team. The role is ideally suited to someone working at a Senior Accountant level, either fully qualified or qualified by experience.

The Role of Client Manager 

As Client Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients, providing a full range of accounts preparation, tax compliance, and advisory services while ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time.

This is a hands-on role within an accountancy practice, combining client management, accounts preparation, and tax work while also supporting the wider team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of small business clients

  • Preparing and reviewing limited company accounts

  • Preparing corporation tax returns (CT600s)

  • Preparing personal tax returns

  • Preparing sole trader, partnership, and rental accounts

  • Preparing and reviewing VAT returns including Making Tax Digital requirements

  • Liaising directly with clients via Zoom, Teams, phone, and email

  • Supporting the progress and quality of work completed by junior team members

  • Liaising with HMRC regarding client matters

  • Ensuring work is delivered to strict deadlines

  • Supporting clients with accounting queries and practical advice

Experience with property service charge accounts would be advantageous but is not essential.


Software & Systems

You will be working with a range of modern accounting and tax software, including:

  • TaxCalc

  • Xero

  • QuickBooks

  • Dext

  • Brightpay

  • Advanced Excel


About You - Client Manager 

The successful candidate will be an experienced Senior/Qualified practice accountant who is confident managing client relationships and delivering high-quality accounts and tax work.

You will ideally have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a UK accountancy practice

  • ACCA / ACA qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE)

  • Strong experience preparing limited company accounts and tax returns

  • Knowledge of VAT and Making Tax Digital

  • Experience dealing directly with clients and HMRC

  • Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Excellent communication and client service skills
