Role Overview
They are seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Personal Tax Manager to lead the delivery of personal tax compliance and advisory work. You will manage a substantial personal tax portfolio and provide strategic tax planning support to individuals and high-net-worth clients. This role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end personal tax compliance for a diverse portfolio of individual clients, including Self Assessment and associated submissions
Provide technical tax advice on personal tax planning issues such as rental income, capital gains, pensions, trusts and estates
Act as key client contact for personal tax matters, building and maintaining strong relationships
Liaise with HMRC and handle enquiries, correspondence and compliance checks
Review personal tax work prepared by junior team members, providing coaching and quality control
Identify and deliver additional tax planning opportunities for clients
Collaborate with business tax professionals on cross-service opportunities
Support continuous improvement of personal tax processes and systems
Ideal Candidate Profile
Qualified (ATT / CTA) with strong UK personal tax technical knowledge, or ACA/ACCA qualified with a personal tax focus
Proven experience managing personal tax compliance within an accountancy practice environment
Experience advising on complex individual tax matters including rental, capital gains, trusts or estates advantageous
Excellent communication and client relationship skills
Strong organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload effectively
Comfortable managing a portfolio independently and leading junior staff
