About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a vet job in the North West near Liverpool and Manchester.

This role offers an excellent balance of consulting and routine surgical work, alongside the option to undertake sole charge branch work (approximately 50%) or remain branch-based with hospital support, depending on your preference.

About the Practice

The practice operates from a Tier 3 veterinary hospital and training centre, offering access to advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities.

Equipment includes digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, dental imaging, CO2 laser, laparoscopic equipment, CT, and MRI, enabling a high standard of clinical care and case work-up.

The team includes experienced veterinary surgeons, several of whom hold or are working towards advanced certificates in medicine, surgery, and diagnostic imaging.

There is also a close relationship with a referral service, providing additional support and opportunities for complex case management.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering a mix of consultations and routine surgical procedures

  • Performing neutering and first-opinion surgeries

  • Undertaking sole charge branch work where required (or optional depending on preference)

  • Working collaboratively with a highly skilled veterinary team

  • Managing and working up cases to a high clinical standard

  • Contributing to continuity of care and patient outcomes

  • Participating in a shared weekend rota and occasional OOH cover

Candidate Profile

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

  • Confident in consulting and routine surgical procedures

  • Comfortable with sole charge work (or open to developing in this area)

  • Strong focus on patient and client care

  • A collaborative and proactive team player

  • Keen to develop clinical interests and pursue further qualifications

Compensation & Benefits

  • £38,000 – £60,000 salary (DOE)

  • Weekend rota: 1 in 8 weekends (or alternative rota pattern)
