About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader to join a forward-thinking charity hospital across Bow and Ilford, East London. This is a senior clinical leadership role combining hands-on veterinary work with team leadership and clinical governance responsibilities.
This position is ideal for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys a surgically biased caseload, strong clinical decision-making, and leading by example within a collaborative environment.
Salary: £63,000– £70,000 per annum (including allowances)
Location: Bow & Ilford, East London
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, flexible shifts (8:30am–8:00pm), including 1 in 7–8 weekends with enhanced pay and time off in lieu
Contract: Full-time, permanent

Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in both clinical and managerial aspects of the hospital.
Leading the Veterinary Surgeon team, setting clinical standards and direction
Taking responsibility for clinical governance and compliance
Overseeing recruitment, onboarding, and team development
Coaching, mentoring, and supporting team members
Delivering a surgically focused caseload, alongside medical cases
Promoting evidence-based, pragmatic clinical decision-making
Supporting effective client communication and care planning
Driving team performance, engagement, and continuous improvement
Candidate Profile
They are seeking a highly experienced Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS) with strong leadership capability.
Proven experience in first-opinion veterinary practice
Confidence in surgical procedures and case management
Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills
Ability to uphold and drive clinical governance standards
Excellent communication and client engagement skills
A collaborative and supportive approach to team leadership
Commitment to evidence-based, welfare-focused veterinary care

£63,000– £70,000 salary (including allowances)
