Role Overview

The Head Veterinary Nurse will lead the nursing team, supporting clinical standards, workflow efficiency, and team development while continuing to provide excellent patient care within a first-opinion setting.

This role combines clinical nursing with leadership responsibilities, ideal for an experienced RVN looking to take the next step in their career.


Clinical Facilities & Environment

The practice operates across two modern floors and includes:

  • Dedicated dog and exotics clinic

  • Separate cat-only clinic

  • Digital X-ray

  • Multiparameter monitoring equipment

  • Contemporary, purpose-built facilities


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support the nursing team

  • Maintain and uphold high clinical standards

  • Assist with consultations, procedures, and surgeries

  • Oversee inpatient care and anaesthesia monitoring

  • Support team development and workflow coordination

  • Deliver exceptional patient and client care

  • Foster a positive, collaborative team culture


Working Hours & Schedule

  • Full-time or part-time considered

  • 5 days per week

  • Flexible working patterns available

  • No weekends


Candidate Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a nursing role

  • Previous leadership or senior nursing experience preferred

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Team-focused, proactive, and supportive approach

  • Passion for maintaining high clinical standards
