Role Overview
The successful candidate will manage clients’ bookkeeping records and VAT returns using cloud accounting software and Excel. The role includes occasional one-to-one client training, both over the phone and on-site, and requires strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities

Enter and manage accounting data accurately

Reconcile key accounts, including bank, debtors, creditors, VAT, and PAYE

Investigate discrepancies and provide solutions

Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly VAT returns

Ensure VAT transactions are accurate and complete

Keep up to date with HMRC VAT regulations and cloud accounting software updates

Liaise professionally with clients, colleagues, and partners

Review clients’ bookkeeping and VAT work, responding to queries
Candidate Requirements

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping, ideally in practice or self-employed

Strong technical knowledge of VAT, including post-Brexit regulations

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and at least two cloud accounting software platforms (e.g., Sage 50, Sage Business Cloud, Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent)

Excellent communication skills, highly organised, reliable, and able to work independently

Level 4 AAT qualified or equivalent experience

Access to a vehicle for client visits

Ability to hit the ground running and use initiative
