An established firm of Chartered Accountants in Manchester is seeking an Accounts & Tax Semi-Senior to join its growing Accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice professional looking to progress within a supportive and reputable firm.

The Role – Accounts & Tax Semi-Senior Job in Manchester

The successful candidate will play a key role within the Accounts Department, managing client assignments and supporting junior team members. This is a client-facing position suited to someone confident in handling accounts preparation and technical queries.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of limited company accounts

  • Use of Xero and other cloud accounting software

  • Reconciling control accounts

  • Preparation of management accounts

  • Acting as first point of contact for clients

  • Responding to ad hoc client queries

  • Supporting and guiding junior colleagues

  • Liaising with managers regarding workflow and deadlines

  • Clearing review points and ensuring accounts are finalised efficiently


Candidate Requirements

  • Experience within an accountancy practice environment

  • Strong background preparing limited company accounts

  • Working knowledge of Xero and cloud-based accounting systems

  • Experience supporting or overseeing junior staff

  • Clear communicator with a professional, client-focused approach

  • Organised with the ability to manage deadlines effectively

This position would suit an AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified accountant seeking progression within a reputable Manchester firm.


Working Arrangements

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm (flexibility available)

  • Based in the Manchester office, with occasional client visits
