This is a senior, hands-on role for an experienced practice accountant or client manager who enjoys combining technical work with client relationships. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing clients, supporting the team, and helping the firm continue to grow in a considered and high-quality way.

About the Firm

Our client is a digital-first accounting firm based near Manchester Airport, with a strong reputation for quality, clarity, and long-term client relationships. They specialise in working with e-commerce businesses, digital companies, and growing SMEs.

The culture is relaxed but professional, with flexible working and a genuine focus on doing things properly rather than rushing work out.

The Role

As an Experienced Accountant / Client Manager, you will take ownership of a client portfolio while supporting junior team members and working closely with the directors.

This role suits someone who wants more than a compliance-only position and enjoys contributing ideas, spotting issues early, and improving how things are done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies

  • Preparation and review of personal tax returns and self-assessments

  • Managing a portfolio of clients as their main point of contact

  • Leading and contributing to client advisory and strategy calls

  • Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing clear feedback

  • Identifying accounting, tax, and process issues and proposing solutions

  • Supporting and mentoring junior and semi-senior accountants

  • Improving internal systems, workflows, and processes

  • Assisting directors with higher-level client work and ad hoc projects

About You

  • Strong experience working in an accounting practice environment

  • Confident preparing accounts and self-assessments independently

  • Comfortable dealing directly with clients and explaining figures clearly

  • Proactive, organised, and commercially aware

  • High attention to detail and pride in quality work

  • Experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members

  • Confident using Xero and cloud accounting software

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience

Why Apply?

  • Genuine input into how the firm operates and grows

  • Exposure to advisory work and senior client conversations

  • Supportive, down-to-earth team with clear progression as the firm scales

  • A role where your experience is valued and trusted

The firm is not hiring out of urgency but is keen to meet the right person when they come along.
