Practice - Junior Accountant, Lichfield, Staffordshire  

Location: Lichfield, Staffordshire  
Salary: £19,000 - £25,000 depending on experience  
Contract: Full Time, Office Based  

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Junior Accountant to join a Chartered local accountancy practice in Lichfield. With a friendly team of around 10 professionals, this practice offers a supportive environment, hands-on experience, and excellent AAT study support for candidates looking to build a long-term career in accountancy. 

This role is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of experience in an accountancy practice who is eager to develop their technical skills and progress professionally. 

The Role 

As a Junior Accountant, you will support senior team members across a broad range of general practice duties, gaining exposure to a varied client base including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts 

  • Supporting bookkeeping duties using cloud accounting software 

  • Assisting with VAT returns and basic tax compliance work 

  • Processing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate records 

  • Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries 

  • Supporting senior accountants and managers with ad-hoc accounting tasks 

About You 

  • Minimum 1 year’s experience within an accountancy practice 

  • Studying towards AAT qualification (or keen to start with study support provided) 

  • Strong numerical ability and attention to detail 

  • Good communication skills and a professional approach with clients 

  • Willingness to learn and develop within a small, close-knit team 

  • Basic experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks (desirable)
