Role Overview

An excellent opportunity for an ambitious Senior Accountant or Manager to step into a leadership role within a growing Barnsley office. This position offers significant autonomy, exposure to strategic decision-making and a clearly defined pathway toward future Directorship for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting, tax and advisory services

  • Act as a trusted adviser to owner-managed businesses and senior stakeholders

  • Co-lead, mentor and develop a team of accountants, supporting performance and progression

  • Oversee compliance and ensure consistently high standards of client service

  • Contribute to business development and identify growth opportunities, including cross-referrals

  • Work closely with Directors and Partners on strategic planning and office growth

  • Take ownership of workflow management, quality control and client relationships

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong background in accountancy practice

  • Likely operating at Senior Accountant, Manager, Senior Manager or salaried associate level

  • Typically 3+ years PQE, though strong candidates outside this range will be considered

  • Proven experience managing a mixed client portfolio across accounts, tax and advisory work

  • Confident leader with experience developing junior and mid-level team members

  • Strong commercial mindset with an ambition to progress into senior leadership

  • Excellent IT skills including Office 365 and cloud accounting platforms (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)

  • Experience using accounts production and working paper software (IRIS / MyWorkpapers preferred)

  • Comfortable in client-facing environments, including meetings with prospective clients
