Role Overview
An excellent opportunity for an ambitious Senior Accountant or Manager to step into a leadership role within a growing Barnsley office. This position offers significant autonomy, exposure to strategic decision-making and a clearly defined pathway toward future Directorship for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting, tax and advisory services

Act as a trusted adviser to owner-managed businesses and senior stakeholders

Co-lead, mentor and develop a team of accountants, supporting performance and progression

Oversee compliance and ensure consistently high standards of client service

Contribute to business development and identify growth opportunities, including cross-referrals

Work closely with Directors and Partners on strategic planning and office growth

Take ownership of workflow management, quality control and client relationships
Ideal Candidate Profile

ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong background in accountancy practice
-
Likely operating at Senior Accountant, Manager, Senior Manager or salaried associate level
-
Typically 3+ years PQE, though strong candidates outside this range will be considered

Proven experience managing a mixed client portfolio across accounts, tax and advisory work

Confident leader with experience developing junior and mid-level team members
-
Strong commercial mindset with an ambition to progress into senior leadership

Excellent IT skills including Office 365 and cloud accounting platforms (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)

Experience using accounts production and working paper software (IRIS / MyWorkpapers preferred)

Comfortable in client-facing environments, including meetings with prospective clients
