Payroll Manager
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Hours: Part time role – 4 or 5 days
Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 (FTE)
An independent accountancy practice in Dudley is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of a busy and varied client payroll portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, chartered accountancy practice with a strong reputation and growing demand for payroll services.
The role
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of client payrolls, including weekly, fortnightly, and monthly frequencies. This role will suit someone confident working independently, with excellent time management and communication skills, particularly when handling client queries and expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Running circa 150 monthly payrolls, including Directors, and employee-based companies
- Clients with and without CIS
- Administering 11 weekly and three 4-weekly payrolls
- Handling starters, leavers, statutory payments, and auto-enrolment obligations
- Managing and filing monthly CIS returns
- Supporting pension contributions and submissions across various providers
- Ensuring timely and accurate RTI and CIS filings via Sage Payroll
- Liaising with HMRC and clients as required
The ideal candidate
- Proven experience working within a payroll bureau/practice environment (essential)
- Proficient in Sage Payroll (essential)
- Familiar with CIS filing (preferred)
- Capable of working autonomously, prioritising a complex portfolio with multiple deadlines and clients at one time
The role offers
- 30 hours per week (4/5 days)
- £18-19 per hour depending on experience
- Circa £35,000 - £37,000 (Full Time Equivalent)
- Autonomous role with direct client contact
