Role Overview

An excellent opportunity for a Semi-Senior Accountant to join a busy and growing Harrogate-based accountancy team. This role offers exposure to a varied client portfolio, hands-on technical experience and the opportunity to progress professionally with structured support and mentoring from experienced accountants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of a varied client portfolio

  • Prepare basic company financial statements

  • Prepare interim management accounts

  • Prepare personal tax returns

  • Prepare partnership accounts and partnership tax returns

  • Attend client meetings and liaise with directors and business owners (as experience develops)

  • Support the training and development of apprentices

  • Assist with company secretarial duties (desirable)

  • Prepare P11Ds (desirable)

  • Provide general accountancy and administrative support as required

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proactive, organised and forward-thinking

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to develop within practice

  • Confident communicator with a professional client-facing approach

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice

  • Exposure to Sage 50, Xero, QuickBooks, IRIS or Sage Business Cloud advantageous

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally

  • Well-organised with strong record-keeping skills

Qualifications

  • Studying towards AAT or ACA/ACCA, or

  • Relevant university degree with intent to pursue a professional qualification
