Role Overview
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant or Accounts Manager to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while playing a key role in the continued growth of the practice. The position combines hands-on technical work, client management and review responsibilities, with a clear pathway to management-level progression for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
Prepare statutory accounts from both incomplete and computerised records
Prepare company and personal tax returns
Act as the primary point of contact for clients on accounting and compliance matters
Support VAT returns and bookkeeping during peak periods
Review work prepared by junior team members and provide constructive feedback
Assist with new client onboarding and setup
Contribute to ad-hoc projects and practice initiatives
Support business development and identify opportunities for additional work
Ideal Candidate Profile
ACA or ACCA qualified; QBE considered with a minimum of 3 years’ practice experience
At least 3 years’ recent experience within a UK accountancy practice
Strong technical capability across accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
Confident preparing accounts to a high standard with minimal supervision
Commercially minded with the ability to support client growth and new business
Highly organised, deadline-focused and able to work under pressure
Excellent communication skills and a client-centric approach
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Proficient with accounting software (CCH, Sage, Xero preferred)
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
