Role Overview

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant or Accounts Manager to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while playing a key role in the continued growth of the practice. The position combines hands-on technical work, client management and review responsibilities, with a clear pathway to management-level progression for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies

  • Prepare statutory accounts from both incomplete and computerised records

  • Prepare company and personal tax returns

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on accounting and compliance matters

  • Support VAT returns and bookkeeping during peak periods

  • Review work prepared by junior team members and provide constructive feedback

  • Assist with new client onboarding and setup

  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and practice initiatives

  • Support business development and identify opportunities for additional work

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • ACA or ACCA qualified; QBE considered with a minimum of 3 years’ practice experience

  • At least 3 years’ recent experience within a UK accountancy practice

  • Strong technical capability across accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies

  • Confident preparing accounts to a high standard with minimal supervision

  • Commercially minded with the ability to support client growth and new business

  • Highly organised, deadline-focused and able to work under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills and a client-centric approach

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Proficient with accounting software (CCH, Sage, Xero preferred)

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
