An established independent accountancy practice in the Rugby area is recruiting a Tax Semi-Senior or Senior to join its tax and compliance team. This role offers responsibility across tax compliance, planning, VAT and payroll support within a traditional practice that provides personalised services to local businesses and personal clients.

Tax Semi-Senior / Senior Role Overview
This Tax Semi-Senior/Senior position offers a varied role supporting compliance and planning across core taxation services. The practice helps clients reduce tax liabilities, ensure HMRC compliance and provide strategic support on tax matters, delivered with a highly personalised service and industry knowledge.
The successful candidate will work closely with the tax team to manage client assignments and support delivery of timely, compliant tax returns and related services.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review personal tax returns and self-assessment submissions
Prepare corporate and business tax returns
Support VAT compliance and planning, including registrations and ongoing obligations
Assist with payroll compliance and RTI submissions
Liaise with clients on tax queries and compliance matters
Ensure accuracy and timely submission of tax returns to HMRC
Assist with tax planning discussions and bespoke client solutions
Support junior staff and contribute to team development
Taxation, VAT and Payroll Exposure
This role offers hands-on exposure to the core taxation services offered by the practice, including:
Personal tax, corporation tax and business tax compliance
VAT planning and registration services
Payroll and PAYE support duties
Strategic tax planning discussions with clients
Candidates will benefit from broad experience across compliance and advisory aspects of tax work, enhancing technical capability in a practice setting.
Experience and Qualifications Required
Experience in tax compliance within an accountancy practice
Solid understanding of personal and corporate tax principles
Experience preparing VAT returns and general VAT compliance
Exposure to payroll compliance desirable
AAT / ACCA / ACA or equivalent qualification preferred, or clear progression path
Strong communication and client service skills
Proactive, reliable and deadline-driven approach
Location and Working Arrangements
Based near Rugby, 35 hours per week
Office-based role with flexible working options
