About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse in Birkenhead to join a forward-thinking, purpose-led organisation. This is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours across a 4-day week, offering an excellent work-life balance and exposure to a diverse and rewarding caseload.
This role is ideal for an RVN looking to develop and utilise their full clinical skillset, working across both complex medical and surgical cases within a supportive team environment.
Salary: Up to £33,000 DOE
Location: Birkenhead, Wirral
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 4-day week, 1 in 6 Saturdays (with TOIL)
About the Practice
This is a well-equipped small animal practice in Birkenhead, offering a modern clinical environment and a strong emphasis on patient care and teamwork.
Facilities include:
Seven consulting rooms
Two surgical theatres
Digital X-ray suite
Separate dog and cat wards (cat-friendly clinic)
The practice manages a wide range of cases, from complex orthopaedics to advanced medical conditions, with the capability to support advanced services such as cardiac imaging.
The team operates within a collaborative, non-hierarchical culture, ensuring all team members are valued and supported in delivering high standards of care.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to inpatients and outpatients
Assist with surgical procedures and anaesthesia monitoring
Support diagnostic procedures and imaging
Provide excellent client communication and education
Maintain accurate clinical records
Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider team
Contribute to efficient day-to-day practice operations
Candidate Profile
Qualified and RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse
Previous experience in a busy small animal practice or hospital
Strong clinical skills in anaesthesia, inpatient care, and general nursing
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A proactive and team-oriented approach
Passion for accessible, high-quality veterinary care
