Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) – Blackburn, Lancashire
About the Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse in Blackburn to join a progressive, purpose-driven organisation. This is a full-time, permanent role (part-time applications considered), offering a 40-hour week across 4 days with a strong focus on work-life balance and clinical development.
This role provides exposure to a busy and varied caseload, including surgical and orthopaedic procedures, making it ideal for an RVN looking to utilise and develop their full nursing skillset.
Salary: Up to £33,000
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 4-day week, shifts between 08:00 – 19:00, 1 in 4.5 Saturdays (2:9 rota, TOIL), part-time considered
About the Practice
This is a well-equipped, high-volume small animal practice in Blackburn, offering a dynamic clinical environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork and patient care.
Facilities include:
Three surgical theatres
Dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray
Seven consulting rooms
Modern equipment to support a wide range of procedures
The practice handles a substantial surgical caseload, including orthopaedics, providing an excellent environment for skill development. The team operates within a collaborative, non-hierarchical structure, ensuring every team member’s contribution is valued.

Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care to inpatients and outpatients
Assist with surgical procedures and monitor anaesthesia
Support diagnostic investigations and imaging
Deliver excellent client care and communication
Maintain accurate and compliant clinical records
Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider team
Contribute to efficient day-to-day practice operations
Candidate Profile
Qualified and RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse
Previous experience in a busy small animal practice or hospital
Strong clinical skills in anaesthesia, inpatient care, and general nursing duties
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
A proactive, team-oriented mindset
Passion for delivering accessible, high-quality veterinary care
