An established independent small animal practice near Yelverton, Devon is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly, experienced team. This role offers a varied and interesting caseload, modern hospital-standard equipment, and a structured rota designed to support a healthy work-life balance.

Role Overview

The Veterinary Surgeon will provide high-quality first opinion care across consultations, surgery, and inpatient management. This role offers strong clinical exposure within a well-supported team and is ideal for a vet with some experience looking to further develop their skills in a progressive independent setting.

Clinical Facilities & Equipment

The practice operates to hospital standards and includes:

  • Digital radiography

  • Video endoscopy

  • Laparoscopic surgery

  • Ultrasound

  • Dedicated nursing support, including for out-of-hours care

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality small animal consultations and surgeries

  • Manage medical and surgical cases confidently

  • Provide excellent client communication and continuity of care

  • Support inpatient and emergency care as part of the rota

  • Collaborate closely with the veterinary and nursing team

  • Maintain high clinical and welfare standards

Working Hours & Schedule

  • Full-time or part-time available

  • Typically 8:30am–5:30pm

  • One day per week 8:30am–6:30pm

  • 1 in 5 Saturdays (8:30am–1pm)

  • 1 in 7 shared OOH rota, with on-site nursing support

Candidate Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

  • Experience in small animal general practice preferred

  • Confident with routine surgery and consultations

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Proactive, patient-focused approach
